I escaped the Vietnam War in 1979 with nothing but my culture. Food became the universal language I could share with everyone. After working in the gas station industry for over 40 years, I made sure that everyone I met, from all walks of life, had food to take with them on their journey. Even in my own home, my kitchen was always the place to be when I cooked. If you ate at Mr. Tais, you were family.

My Vietnamese Sate Chili Oil recipe has always been a staple in our household, but since I love to cook and try new recipes, I created a dry version without too much oil and still keep the good flavor of the chili and crunchy garlic. 

I am a husband to my wife and a father to my 6 kids and their partners, who are all from different cultures from the diverse city of Houston. When they all loved my chili garlic flakes and put it on everything, I realized this was a recipe for everyone to enjoy Mr. Tai.
